Saturday, February 11th & Sunday, February 12th
Saturday morning, when Madison woke up, I noticed a little wet eye boogie in the corner of her right eye. I just knew it was the onset of pink eye and as the day was going to continue her eye would get gunky. Sure enough, after her morning nap she accumulated more eye gunk. I called the pediatricians office around 11 am and not only were they swamped for the remainder of the day but they were nearing closing. I think they close at 12 or 2 on Saturday's. She asked me to monitor the situation and call later in the evening to leave a message on their answering service in order to be seen Sunday morning. Throughout the day, I was adding 2 drops of breastmilk to the affected eye and it seemed to be doing it good. Breastmilk really is a magical liquid. Here's a picture of Madison around 3 pm in the afternoon.
The white of the eye never became red and the gunk was minimal. Here are 2 sweet pictures of Madison asleep in her swing in the late evening.
Sunday morning, Madison's right eye was crusted shut but she was wide awake at 4am. *Side note: the past few nights, Madison has been sleeping a solid 8 hours uninterrupted until 4 am.* Besides having the pink eye, she was her normal self, even slept well and has not had a fever. Here is a picture of her at the Dr's office on Sunday morning before she saw the doctor. We were able to get in there at 8:45 AM

Turns out, in addition to having pink eye, she also has a double ear infection. Poor baby 😔 Dr. Tuck gave her antibiotics for the ear infection and drops for the eyes. As long as she doesn't develop a fever, she is able to go to daycare tomorrow (I thought that was crazy, but pink eye is not contagious after having the days worth of drops). We will see how she is feeling later tonight.
